Only two more days left of King Buckman’s reign.
Important Meeting: Principal Profiling Meeting
November 7, 2007, 6:00 pm at the Auditorium.
“We would like to invite you to share your thoughts about what qualities are important to look for when interviewing for a new principal at West Orange High School”
Dr. Rosita Riley, West Area Superintendent, and Mrs. Kathleen Palmer, Executive Area Director for the West Learning Community will “facilitate” this meeting.
Shouldn’t that be the Harold Cooper Performing Arts Center? Oh well, it’s going to be torn down soon anyway. Go attend the meeting and put your two cents in.
Here is a copy of the e-mail Buckman sent to the other Orange County Principals:
Dear Colleagues,
I wanted to take the opportunity to send a quick email to tell you how much I have enjoyed working together with you to help educate the youth of today. I am excited to tell you that as of November 1, 2007, I will be retiring after 30 years of service in Orange County Public Schools. it is hard to believe that the only job that I have ever had was as an employee for OCPS.
I am excited about this decision as it will open many new doors for me. I will be spending some much deserved time with my high school sweetheart and wife of 30 years, Suellen. we will be traveling to Italy and Germany in the spring. I will also be enjoying my first granddaughter, Bella Grace and, of course, my two wonderful children Brittany and Bryan and their spouses.
After some much needed time with my family, my first official business will involve hopefully a trip to Russia where I will be working on re-building an orphanage for infants that is just outside of Moscow. I will also join the ranks of parent volunteers and will become a frequent fixture in my daughter’s 3rd Grade classroom as she works to prepare them for the FCAT. I will, of course, be continuing my work as an adjunct professor for National Louis University over the next few years. I suppose, once you are an educator, it stays in your system.
Thank you to each and every one of you for your friendship, collegial spirit and more importantly, your hard work and dedication to the students of Orange County.
Take care and God Bless,
Dan
I hope Dr. Buckman will enjoy his new projects and I hope he enters them with a better attitude and disposition than he did at West Orange. in a strange coincidence, my brother just returned from a mission trip for the United Methodist Church to Eastern Europe and Russia. I can tell you that it changed my brother’s entire outlook on life, and I hope it will do the same for Dr. Buckman. His trip is for the United Methodist Church also, and I do feel compelled to say that our church does not condemn Catholics. I’m not sure where that part comes from.
NOTE: The main address went down for a couple of days due to an expired credit card. I am going to keep this up for a little while longer to let people vent (both pro Buckman and anti). after today’s postings, I am now going to moderate comments for language again. Keep that in mind kids! you can always tell the age of the poster by the amount of bad language used. The more cursing the younger the writer. I’m not joking, you really can.
